Right now it has two, both negative:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The peace deal reduces fear demand.<\/strong> Gold rose during the war partly as a safe haven. A signed deal and reopening Hormuz pull some of that crisis premium out<\/li>\n<li><strong>The hawkish Fed lifts the dollar and real yields.<\/strong> Gold is priced in dollars and pays no yield, so a strong dollar and the prospect of higher-for-longer rates both make gold less attractive versus interest-bearing assets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s unusual for both of gold&#8217;s main drivers to turn negative at once. That&#8217;s the setup right now.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_it_means_for_Thai_gold_holders\"><\/span>What it means for Thai gold holders<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you bought gold as a war hedge during the conflict, the peace deal is the signal that particular trade has run its course. Gold did its job during the crisis; with the war ending, the crisis premium deflates. That argues for trimming any war-driven overweight back toward a normal allocation.<\/p>\n<p>But don&#8217;t abandon gold entirely. Its long-term role in a Thai portfolio \u2014 diversification, inflation hedge over years, a store of value uncorrelated with the SET \u2014 is intact. The near-term headwinds are cyclical, not structural.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Thai_context\"><\/span>The Thai context<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Thai households hold gold deeply, and the gold price in baht also reflects the USD\/THB rate. With the baht caught in its own tug-of-war (peace helps it, the Fed caps it), the baht gold price won&#8217;t move purely on global gold \u2014 the currency adds a second variable. A roughly stable baht means Thai gold mostly tracks the global price, which is under pressure.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_do\"><\/span>What to do<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Trim war-hedge overweight<\/strong> \u2014 if gold ran above your target allocation during the conflict, rebalance back toward 5-10% of portfolio<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t sell your core<\/strong> \u2014 the long-term diversification case holds; near-term weakness isn&#8217;t a reason to exit entirely<\/li>\n<li><strong>If underweight, be patient<\/strong> \u2014 with both drivers negative near term, there&#8217;s no rush to add; let the price find a level as the crisis premium fully deflates<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use tax-efficient vehicles<\/strong> \u2014 SET-listed gold ETF capital gains are exempt for individuals; investment bullion is effectively VAT-free on the gold value<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_watch\"><\/span>What to watch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The dollar&#8217;s direction \u2014 driven by Fed expectations and US inflation data<\/li>\n<li>Whether the peace deal holds (a breakdown would revive safe-haven demand)<\/li>\n<li>USD\/THB \u2014 it determines how much of the global gold move shows up in baht<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_takeaway\"><\/span>The takeaway<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For the first time in months, both of gold&#8217;s main drivers point down: the peace deal cuts safe-haven demand, and the hawkish Fed lifts the dollar.
