XRP at $1.08 and Down 72% From Peak: Ripple’s MiCA License Changes the Story

XRP is $1.08 and 72% below its $3.65 July 2025 peak. But Ripple's June 23 MiCA approval, 71% XRP Ledger address growth, and $1B+ ETF inflows tell a different story.
XRP at $1.08 and Down 72% From Peak: Ripple’s MiCA License Changes the Story

XRP entered July 2026 at $1.0837, down 7% on the week and 19% for the month of June — a performance nearly identical to Bitcoin’s in percentage terms, but starting from a much lower base. The token sits 72% below its July 2025 peak of $3.65, a span that tells a story about how quickly altcoin gains can evaporate when macro conditions tighten and the broader risk-off sentiment takes hold.

Yet the XRP story heading into Q3 is not purely bearish. Ripple received preliminary approval from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the CSSF, for a Crypto Asset Service Provider license under the EU’s MiCA framework on June 23. That single approval unlocks access across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area. Ripple now holds 75 or more licenses globally — the largest regulatory footprint of any major crypto company — and the EU coverage is a meaningful addition for institutional use cases that require regulated counterparties.

What the MiCA Approval Actually Changes

MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) is the EU’s comprehensive crypto regulatory framework, effective from June 2024 and now fully operational. Being MiCA-compliant matters because it allows Ripple to offer its payment and settlement services to European financial institutions without navigating 30 separate national regulatory processes. For a company whose core product — cross-border payment settlement using XRP as a bridge currency — depends on bank partnerships, this is directly revenue-relevant.

The MiCA approval also matters in the context of Binance’s regulatory difficulties in Europe. Binance is reportedly facing potential MiCA rejection, which would reduce competitive pressure in the European crypto services market. Ripple being among approximately 210 MiCA-compliant firms at this stage puts it ahead of many peers.

The On-Chain Data That Cuts Against the Price Narrative

Despite the price weakness, XRP Ledger activity has been climbing. Daily active addresses on the XRP Ledger grew 71.7% between June 14 and June 28 — from 23,000 to 39,500. That is not the pattern of a network losing users. It suggests growing utility use of the ledger even as speculative traders exit. These two things — falling price, rising network activity — are not contradictory; they often appear together in the transition between a speculative rally and genuine adoption-driven demand building.

XRP ETF inflows since launch in November 2025 have crossed $1 billion cumulatively, with $5.31 million net inflows on June 22 specifically. These are modest numbers compared to Bitcoin’s ETF scale, but they represent structural demand from investors who want XRP exposure without holding it directly on an exchange.

The CLARITY Act Overhang

US crypto legislation remains the biggest regulatory wildcard for XRP. The CLARITY Act, which would provide comprehensive regulatory clarity for digital assets in the US, saw its Polymarket Senate passage probability fall from 74% to 48% after the Fed’s hawkish June FOMC stance. The correlation between macro hawkishness and legislative risk appetite is not accidental — when financial markets are under stress from rate expectations, the political bandwidth for crypto-friendly legislation narrows.

A CLARITY Act passage would be significantly positive for XRP because it would resolve residual questions about how US regulators classify XRP (as a security or a commodity). The Ripple vs SEC case established that XRP is not a security when sold on secondary markets, but comprehensive legislation would remove even the theoretical ambiguity. At 48% passage probability, this is closer to a coin flip than a certainty.

Where XRP Fits for Thai Investors

Bitkub lists XRP and it is one of the more actively traded pairs on the platform in THB terms. Thai investors who held XRP through the 2025 peak at $3.65 have experienced a difficult period — 72% drawdowns test conviction in any asset. The question for Q3 is whether the fundamental case (growing regulatory footprint, rising network activity, cross-border payment utility) argues for accumulation or whether the macro environment makes the wait too costly.

At $1.08, XRP’s market capitalisation places it among the top-five cryptocurrencies by size. The token has survived regulatory battles, exchange delistings, and multiple boom-bust cycles. The MiCA approval adds a concrete positive development to a narrative that was previously defined primarily by legal uncertainty. Whether that translates to price recovery in Q3 depends on whether the broader crypto market stabilises after June’s selloff — XRP rarely leads recoveries but tends to participate once they are established.
